More than 500 communes and more than 6,000 commoners from across the country participated in some of the main squares of the central town of Caracas. Commoners organized various forums that allowed them to share experiences of planning, organizing, and building communes.

Some of the issues were habitat transformation from a holistic perspective, the media wars against the government, and the role of popular media in the commune, along with youth commoner ethics, food security and food Sovereignty, and how to organize communities against the economic warfare that is taking place in Venezuela by the elite and the people who control the food.

On the first day the emphasis of the V National Communal Economy Fair was on major development, where more than 520 producers with nearly 70,000 kg of food, had a strong presence. It was determined that the communes are the production site and must strengthen the Bolivarian Revolution in order to fight the economic war unleashed on the people; thus, defeat the intermediaries who are carrying this war about.

The day culminated Saturday with a demonstration at Miraflores, where the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, received the commoners and ratified his unconditional support to former President Chavez’s policies.
