National Government Inaugurates Agrobiotechs Biotechnology Complex in Bello Monte

This Wednesday, the Bolivarian Government inaugurated the Agrobiotechs Biotechnology Complex, located in Colinas de Bello Monte, Caracas, as part of the first anniversary of the “Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán” Great Mission for Science, Technology, and Innovation. This innovative facility specializes in the development of biological inputs for agricultural use, which contribute to the production of agroecological crops that protect soil health, biodiversity, and increase production yields.

In addition, this facility also creates inputs used for the benefit of public health and helps control vectors of diseases such as Chagas disease, dengue fever, hairy moth, malaria, and others. Among the products developed are Larvibac, Entoex, Vec Biosem, Entoex, MA Tricorelum, Metar, Beauver, Nomur, Deltabac, Bradynit, among others.

During the inauguration, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, emphasized that this is a major initiative that allows for meeting domestic demand and innovating production capacity to meet the demand of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), and offering it to other countries where these diseases exist.

In this regard, the Deputy Minister of Research and Generation of Scientific Knowledge of the Ministry of People’s Power for Science and Technology (Mincyt), Carmen Virginia Liendo, highlighted that Agriobotech has an installed production capacity of 100,000 doses per month, enough to treat 100,000 hectares.

“It is an example of productive sovereignty, of full independence, which has been developed within the framework of the third vertex of the Great Mission of Science, Technology, and Innovation,” he noted.

Biotechnological Seeds
Agrobiotechs has also developed Biosem Plus, a biotechnological product containing six microorganisms that protect corn seeds from fungal and insect attacks.

Along these lines, President Maduro noted that following this initiative, 40,000 hectares of yellow corn and white corn of the “Turen 2000 variety” will be planted with organic seeds throughout the country.

“Venezuela is growing healthily with the new national seed, taking a leap forward in corn production within the framework of human, ecological, health, land, product, human, and animal standards,” he concluded.
